susan's garden

Susan’s Garden was dedicated on June 24, 2004 to the loving memory of Dr. Susan Hime. As many of you may know, Dr. Susan was Dr. David’s wife, and partner in Hime & Hime Orthodontics. She died unexpectedly in a tragic fall while hiking and climbing in northern Idaho on June 24, 2003. Although Dr. Susan is no longer physically present in our practice, her spirit continues to live through all of us at Austin Orthodontic Arts. Dr. Susan possessed a zest for life, an aliveness and energy that was uncommon. She greeted all she met with a smile, and had an ability to connect with virtually everyone she met. She was a gifted orthodontist, and had attained the high status of Board Certification shortly before her death. She set an example for all of us who knew her-an example of kindness, and of compassion. One of patience and of thoroughness. One of tenderness and toughness. We honor her by keeping her spirit alive in our practice, and by looking to her example as we continue to provide orthodontic care for our patients.

Susan’s Garden is a peaceful place to wait for an appointment or to drink a cup of tea. A place to enjoy the outdoors. A place to share a conversation, or to simply savor a few minutes of peaceful rest. Susan described herself as a person with “peace in her mind and love in her heart.” We hope that you can feel this peace and love as you sit and enjoy Susan’s Garden.
